Yahoo Regains Share at Google's Expense

Aliso Viejo, CA based Net Applications announces May 2007 Search Engine Market Share results. Yahoo is fighting back against Google's dominance in search, and is finally regaining some market share. In fact May 2007 results show Yahoo at 11.37% of worldwide search market share, up from 9.87% in April. Yahoo hasn't been at this level since October of 2006.
So who took the loss to match Yahoo's gains? Google. Their US search engine has fallen from 53.38% in April of worldwide search market share down to 51.71% in May. The loss almost perfectly matches Yahoo's gain.
The bigger questions are what is Yahoo doing now to regain this share, and can they continue?
I attended a tradeshow back in February, and wanted to get a demo of Yahoo's Panama search marketing platform. The booth staff couldn't provide one, only saying that I should check out the website. I was more disappointed for Yahoo's sake than my own.
But, now I'm getting some great new marketing efforts from Yahoo regarding Yahoo Answers, Yahoo Personals and Yahoo Travel. I've used Yahoo services for years, and these are the first effective marketing campaigns that I've seen. And, to the core of the matter, Yahoo's search marketing results of late seem to be much more in tune with search queries than ever.
Now, let's see if it continues in the months to come...

According to eMarketer.com, in 2006 the 80% of Internet traffic begins in search engines such as Google, Yahoo! and MSN. They also confirm that Internet search user's are the most qualified and motivated visitors of this Websites, given the genuine interest they develop when the search is done.
This fact makes that individuals and companies turn to search engines advertisement more and more around the world.

The importance of this new source of communication with the potential customer is such that it has created a new commercialization channel by itself, more important than TV, radio or paper because it can reach worldwide competition and its a system yet to be known, therefore it hasn't been exploited by the general public yet.
